Govt did not hand over Davis to US despite pressure:Information Minister

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday that despite huge pressure from the United States, the democratic government had not handed over the alleged murderer Raymond Davis to that country. “I have repeatedly stated on numerous occasions that the government of Pakistan had categorically told the US that Raymond Davis case is sub judice and only courts will decide his fate. At least, the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party should be given accolade that despite pressure it refused to hand over the killer,” she said.
The Minister said, “Neither we will release Davis nor we will come under any US pressure.”
She said that both the President and the Prime Minister had made it clear to visiting US officials that the government was not an aggrieved party in the case and added that the law enforcement agencies of the country were handling the case and the Federal Government was coordinating with them.
