LAHORE: The students of Punjab University and various city colleges held a protest demonstration here on Friday against the US government for demanding release of double murder accused Raymond Davis, under diplomatic immunity.
The demonstration was organized in front of Lahore Press Club under the aegis of Islami Jamiat Tulaba after Friday prayer.IJT Lahore Acting Nazim Shahbaz Qaiser and PU Nazim Zubair Safdar led the demonstration.
The protesting students were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the US and Raymond Davis.
Addressing the gathering, the IJT leaders condemned the incident in which Raymond Davis killed two Pakistani nationals while third person was crushed to death by a vehicle of US consulate.
The studentds demanded of the government to punish the accused under the law of land.
They asserted that Raymond Davis was arrested after the killing of two Pakistanis while the matter was before the court but US was pressurizing Islamabad to release him.
They also criticised the US Consulate for not extending cooperation with the law enforcement agencies to recover the vehicle involved in crushing one Ibad-ur-Rehman on January 27.
